The Value of a Site
An overview of what sites are and how sites provide value.
How does Arcadia define a site?
In the Arcadia data model, a site is defined as a single address that can have zero, one, or many meters associated to it. It is not a campus or a collection of addresses. We recommend treating sites as buildings.
Why should I use sites?
Sites allow you to group meters and report on them as a functional unit. For example, instead of downloading usage for meters one by one, you can download all the usage associated with meters that you mapped to a site all at once. If your use case involves charges, you can also query for all charges associated with meters mapped to a site in one action.
You can also use sites to model meters in the same way that that you have them represented in your own internal system. Instead of managing independent meters for electricity, water, and gas at the same property, you can group them all into a site and manage them from a single view in the Arcadia Platform
How do I create a site?
Sites can be created one by one in the Dashboard or in bulk using bulk site upload.
The quantity and service types of a meters related to a site can vary. Oftentimes, a site will have an electric, gas, and water meter. Sometimes, a site may have only a single meter.
What is site verification?
Arcadia verifies a site by confirming its address belongs to a mapped location on the earth. Verifying a site is optional. However, verifying your site allows you to utilize the Guided Site Onboarding feature, which is a low effort and fast meter-to-site mapping tool. Follow the steps in the Guide or check out the Site Management page in our Dashboard to jump right in.
