Guided Site Onboarding
A detailed walk through of site-to-meter mapping functionality.
The guided site onboarding feature streamlines the process of setting up and managing sites and their associated meters. This is primarily a Dashboard only feature, with many of the endpoints unexposed publicly.
High level features
- Site address verification: We will attempt to automatically verify your site addresses by reconciling the provided site address against a known address database. You can then confirm the recommendation, edit your address, or skip the verification process altogether for the site.
- Meter-to-site association recommendations: We will automatically recommend site associations for meters discovered during the extraction process based on address matching.
- Expected meters: Using the bulk meter upload tool, you can create expected meters that will automatically be assigned once discovered through the standard data discovery and extraction process.
- Bulk meter upload: You can upload a CSV file to associate multiple existing meters at a time with their respective sites.
- Standalone meter marking: Meters that do not need to be associated with sites can be marked as "standalone" so that you're no longer prompted to associate them.
- Clear task management: A dedicated Site Management page in the Dashboard provides a clear overview of pending tasks, including address verification and meter association.
How it works
- Create your sites : As a prerequisite, create your sites on the Site View page. You can either upload a CSV of sites or you can create sites one-by-one using the UI.
- Access the site management page: Navigate to the Site Management page under the Site tab.
- Verify site addresses: Review the table of sites needing address verification. You can confirm, edit, or skip verification for each site.
- Utilize bulk upload (optional): If you have a large number of meter associations, use the bulk CSV upload feature to streamline the process.
- Review meter associations: Review the tables for meter association recommendations and meters awaiting manual assignment. From here, you can accept or reject recommendations, mark meters as standalone, or manually associate meters with sites.
Site management page
The Site Management page serves as the central hub for all site-related tasks. It includes three tables:
- Sites Needing Address Verification: This table lists all sites with unverified addresses. From here, you can review suggestions, edit addresses, or mark sites as not needing verification.
- Meter Association Recommendation Table: This table displays all meters with a recommended site association based on address matching. From here, you can accept, reject, or mark meters as standalone.
- Meters Awaiting Manual Assignment: This table lists all meters without recommended sites (including ones that have been rejected from a site recommendation) that are awaiting a site assignment. These meters need to be manually mapped to a site or marked as standalone to be removed from the list.
Site address verification
We will automatically try to map the site's service address to a known address. If we find a site has only one recommendation with a high degree of confidence, we will make the association without you having to accept the suggestion. You can always update or remove associations as needed.
Today, this feature is only supported for sites in the United States and Canada.
Sites must have a verified US or Canadian address to be eligible for Guided Site Onboarding features.
Meter-to-site association recommendations
You can accept, edit, or reject meter-to-site recommendations.
- Accept: We will provide recommendations for meters that are very likely to be situated near the sites you've defined.
- Edit: If none of the close matches meet your expectations, you can manually choose a site to assign the meter to within the recommendation module.
- Reject Lastly, if the meter should not be assigned to a site, you can reject the recommendations. If you reject the recommendation you have the option to assign it to another site or set it as standalone.
Bulk upload template details
Read more about bulk meter mapping here. A site must already exist before you can associate an existing or expected meter to it.
Expected meters
If all your meters are not yet discovered or in our system, you can still begin meter-to-site mapping immediately. Using the bulk meter mapping feature, you can input the provider identifier and meterNumber
. This will create an Expected Meter on the Site Detail page. We will match on the meterNumber
or the normalizedMeterNumber
(removes non-alphanumeric characters).
If the meter number is discovered through our extraction process, we will automatically assign it to the site associated to it.
If a meter does not have ameterNumber
, it is not eligible for this feature. A common example of a meter without a meter number is a lighting meter.
Standalone meters
Some meters may never be associated to a site based on your use case. In this event, you can mark any meter as Standalone. This will mute any meter to site recommendations going forward. This can be reversed by deselecting the standalone option on the meter detail page or manually assigning the meter to a site.
