[Plug Intervals] Smart Meter Texas integration

Smart Meter Texas (SMT) is a platform managed by the 4 Texas generating utilities (Centerpoint, Oncor, AEP Central/North, and Texas New Mexico Power) that publishes interval data for meters installed in the Texas ERCOT region. Plug Intervals now supports collection of interval data using SMT API's for Texas ERCOT meters.

What problem are we solving?

  1. Smart Meter Texas (SMT) enables access to intervals data for over 17M electric meters installed in the Texas ERCOT region.
  2. API integration with Smart Meter Texas (SMT) ensures more robust and reliable data collection.

How does the end-user flow differ for Smart Meter Texas?

  1. Credential submission: Instead of submitting username/password via connect, end-user has to submit their Meter Number, ESI ID and email address.
  2. Authorization email: Once end-user submits these details, they get a email from Smart Meter Texas asking them to authorise Plug Intervals access to their interval data. Once end-user grants access, Arcadia is able to collect 1 year of history data and then daily data on a recurring basis. The authorization lasts for a year and end-user get an email to extend authorization when it is about to expire.
  3. Data access: Access to a meters intervals data is the same as for any other providers meter using the /intervals or /normalizedIntervals endpoints of plug.
