[Plug] Guided Site Onboarding is Released 🏬

We’re thrilled to announce a major update designed to revolutionize the onboarding experience for Plug customers! This release builds upon our existing site feature to make it easier than ever to report energy usage data by building rather than on a single meter-basis. Sites represent buildings which may have multiple meters associated with them. Many customers want to report on energy usage and costs on a building-level. With this release, users can now create sites and map the appropriate meters to them 10x faster.

What’s New?

Dedicate Site Management Tab

The new Site Management tab gives you a single place to correct and validate site addresses, review Arcadia's intelligent meter mapping recommendations (more on that below), and gives you a single task list of unmapped meters. No more jumping between pages and filtered list to find the meters or sites that need your attention!

Bulk Meter Mapping Upload

Some users already have their sites and meters mapped in upstream CRMs like SAP. Now, users can upload a CSV file of all of the meters that they expect to see within Plug and the sites they belong to. As new meters are discovered, those expected meters will automatically be mapped to the specified site. Read more about how this feature works in a dedicated meter mapping guide.

Meter-to-Site Mapping Recommendations:

Plug now suggests meter-to-site mappings based on normalized address matching, significantly reducing manual effort. Users can review, approve, or reject these recommendations directly in the UI.

Sites with incomplete or incorrect addresses are flagged and presented with recommended corrections so that the site can become eligible for meter mapping recommendations.

Standalone Meters:

Users can designate meters as “standalone” if they don’t need to be associated with a site, simplifying the ongoing management process.

Site Address Verification

Arcadia now validates that the addresses supplied for sites belong to real buildings ensuring data quality and enabling features like meter mapping recommendations. You'll notice dedicated a user experience on the site detail page to complete and confirm addresses in cases where we can auto-verify the address with our building directory.

Pulling It All Together

This release caps off several months of focus on improving the onboarding experience of our Dashboard. The new integrated user experience for getting up and running with Plug for customers who are bringing their own data now follows a path of:

  • Bulk upload a CSV of sites
  • Bulk upload a CSV of credentials
  • Bulk upload a CSV of expected meters, including mappings to sites
  • A site management page to approve automatic meter mapping recommendations
  • A dedicated list of unmapped meters to give you a single place to focus your attention on setting up your data hierarchy
  • The ability to mark meters as standalone so that they can be removed from the unmapped meters list, keeping your focus on the meters that really matter to you and your team.
